Neural stem cells (NSCs) are a type of cell that can self-renew and differentiate into neurons, astrocytes, and oligodendrocytes. They are found in the nervous system and are responsible for the generation of new brain cells. When the nervous system is damaged, NSCs migrate to the site of injury and differentiate into different types of cells to repair and replace the damaged neurons. NSCs also secrete a variety of neurotrophic factors that promote the repair of damaged cells and strengthen the connections between neuronal synapses, thereby establishing new neural circuits.
Genevoyager utilizes genetic engineering technology to genetically modify NSCs, enabling them to stably express specific exogenous genes, such as fluorescent proteins, neurotransmitter sensors, calcium ion sensors, optogenetic proteins, etc. This allows real-time observation and precise manipulation of the cells, which can be applied in various fields such as electrophysiology, optogenetics, and neural circuit tracing, etc.
